The Quality Trust for Individuals with Disabilities, Inc. was created to advance the individual and collective interests of people with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities in the District of Columbia (DC). We work in partnership with advocates, families and other stakeholders to promote positive change in supports and services. Our vision is for a community that affords individuals with disabilities access to high quality, person-centered services and supports, regardless of the type, extent or severity of their needs.
The Department of Human Services, Strong Families Program Division
The Strong Families Program ([SPD) Division is located within the Department of Human Services (DHS) Family Services Administration (FSA). SFP began operations in October 2002 and serves families with multiple, complex problems who are in crisis and at high risk for family separation.
As an integral component of the Mayor’s Safe Passages Action Plan, its mission is to provide comprehensive service delivery to strengthen the family unit, foster healthy family development and help families address many of the issues that create ongoing challenges in their lives. One of the fundamental goals of the Program is to prevent families from entering the District’s child welfare, juvenile justice or homeless systems by working with families in a proactive, preventive manner.
